Halawa Beach on North Shore of Molokai Hawaii 1

Anybody can start a website, but it takes a travel-minded, detailed, person to build a helpful resource for planning a trip to Hawaii. And I’ll be honest, it helps if that person has actually been many times and has great friends all through the Islands. And that’s me!

Hi there, I’m Rob Taylor and I have a special appreciation of Hawaii. I’ve spent time here for work, for photography projects, to spend time with friends and family here in the Islands, and to visit solely for enjoyment. With each visit I learn more and meet more wonderful people who want their story told in a respectful, Native Hawaiian focused way. Hawaii is a part of the USA, but it truly is occupied land. Like Alaska, the American West and, let’s face it, the whole of the United States.

The story of Hawaii has not been lost on me and my family. My great great aunt and uncle were a part of opening the Waioli Tea Room when it first began (through the Salvation Army), followed by cousins. And then other family throughout the Islands shared their stories with me as I grew up, and now as an adult I appreciate both the centuries of Hawaiian culture and history, as well as the impact occupation of the Islands has had.

Fast forward to today when I’m now a travel writer and wildlife photographer. I love my job and I love sharing my passion with others. Hawaii is very much alive and in many aspects the Hawaiian culture is returning with great strength. MyAlohaTrip.com is all about helping others to come to Hawaii for a visit and to see just how special of a place it is… RESPECTFULLY.

It’s easy to get off a plane and check into a resort, but that doesn’t have a lasting positive impact on the communities around it, and there’s much more to Hawaii than the resort areas. Visiting Hawaii is all about visiting the towns and natural areas with open eyes and open hearts. It’s about learning from Native Hawaiians and kamaʻāina (yes, those are two different groups). It’s observing and encountering some of the coolest wildlife in the world out in its natural habitat. Hawaii is incredible.

So, put all this together and it’s why MyAlohaTrip.com is a great resource for planning YOUR Hawaii trip.

If you have any questions about planning your adventure or need some advice, please let us know. I love helping people plan trips and have some great buddies all around the Islands that can help with additional information and recommendations.
